Everything people ask before they book, and the shop policy in full. If something is not here, call the shop on (978) 594-5003 and ask.

Before you book.

Shop policy.

How old do you have to be to get tattooed?
Eighteen. In Massachusetts nobody under 18 can be tattooed, and there is no exception for parental consent. Bring a government photo ID to your appointment. If you cannot produce ID we cannot tattoo you, however far you have traveled.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes, and it comes off the final cost of the tattoo. Markus Blanchard takes $250, Justin Doucette takes $75 and Miles Hatton takes $75. The deposit is non-refundable, so it is not lost if you turn up, it is simply money already paid toward the piece.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Tell your artist at least two weeks before the appointment and the deposit moves with you to the new date. Less than two weeks, or no notice at all, and the deposit is lost and a new one is needed to book again. Two weeks is what gives the artist a chance to fill the slot.
How much does a tattoo cost?
It depends on size, placement and how much drawing the piece needs, so the honest answer comes from the artist once they have seen your idea. The shop minimum is $150, and above that send the inquiry with a rough size and placement and you will get a real number rather than a guess.
Is there a shop minimum?
Yes, $150. That is the least a tattoo costs here whatever its size, because setting up a station, drawing the piece and breaking the station down afterwards takes the same time for something tiny as for something large. Your deposit counts toward it.
Do you take walk-ins?
You are welcome to walk in and look at the gallery whenever we are open. Whether anyone can tattoo you that day depends on who is working and what is already booked, so an appointment is the only way to be certain. Seven days a week through September and October, 11am to 6pm; call ahead at other times.
Can I bring someone with me?
One person is fine. The studio is a working space and a gallery at the same time, so large groups are not practical during an appointment.
Can you cover or rework an existing tattoo?
Often, but it depends entirely on what is already there. Send a clear, well-lit photograph of the existing piece with your inquiry and the artist will tell you honestly what is realistic.
Do you do piercings?
No. Tomb Gallery is a tattoo studio and an art gallery. We do not pierce and we do not sell jewelry.
What is the policy on shop returns?
Fourteen days with a receipt. Items have to come back undamaged, unworn and unwashed, in their original packaging. This covers apparel and prints bought in the shop; anything bought through the online store is handled there.

Still not sure?

Come in and ask. We are at 274-276 Essex St, Salem, MA 01970. 11am to 6pm, seven days a week through September and October, and you do not need an appointment to walk in and talk to somebody.
